What happens when I reach my embedding limit?
New content stops being indexed once you hit your cap. Everything you have already indexed keeps working — users still get the full 3-tier search. Upgrade to raise the cap, or clean up unused embeddings from the Tools tab and carry on.
What is an embedding?
One indexed piece of content — a product, post, page, or taxonomy term (category or tag). A 500-product store with 100 categories and tags uses roughly 600 embeddings.
What is the difference between the small and large models?
text-embedding-3-small is fast and efficient; text-embedding-3-large is materially more precise, especially for multilingual stores. Read the full comparison →
Can I use my own OpenAI API key?
Yes, on any plan — you pay OpenAI directly for the embeddings. The plan’s other features (insights retention, term embeddings scope, sites, support) still apply.
